WASHINGTON (AP) - Court documents say a man charged with killing a woman whose charred body was found in August forced a third party to help cover up the crime.
WTOP-FM reports Metropolitan police say in court documents that 36-year-old Thomas Fields Jr. woke a man inside the Washington home where he’s accused of killing 24-year-old Marquita Lucas and ordered him at gunpoint to help dispose of the body.
Lucas’ body was found along a Maryland highway.
The man reported the killing and his involvement to police the next day. He said he complied because he feared for his life and the lives of his children asleep in the home. Police say they’ve corroborated his account.
The relationship between the man and Fields is unclear. The report didn’t include comment from Fields’ lawyer.
