PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say the suspect in a shooting that injured three people including a Phoenix police officer was killed in the incident.
Police released more details Monday about the Saturday night shooting that resulted in 32-year-old suspect Michael Austin dying at the scene.
They say the incident began when police responded to a call about a family fight, but were sent away.
Officers returned four hours later after a second call about a suspect threatening to shoot family members.
Police say officers encountered gunfire and a SWAT team initiated contact.
After several hours, officers tried to rescue victims and more gunfire erupted.
A 36-year-old male officer, a two women ages 38 and 69 were shot.
A second officer was bitten by a police dog.
All four remained in stable condition Monday.
