WARREN, Ark. (AP) - Authorities in southern Arkansas say one person is dead after a gunfight with an Arkansas State Police trooper.

State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said Thursday that the shooting occurred during a traffic stop on a road in Bradley County near Warren, about 79 miles (127 kilometers) south of Little Rock.

He identified the suspect as 34-year-old Christopher Dequan Crosby of Warren.

The identity of the trooper wasn’t immediately released.

Sadler said the trooper attempted a traffic stop at a Warren intersection, but the driver wouldn’t stop. The trooper pursued the car out of the town when it crashed. Crosby stepped from the car and fired a shot at the trooper who returned fire, killing Crosby.
