UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) - A 3-month-old baby has been found safe in Maryland after his mother told police she gave him to a woman she didn’t know, in a location she couldn’t remember.
News outlets report that the baby’s mother told Prince George’s County Police that she left the child, Ludwig Umanzor-Luna, with a woman on Monday, but couldn’t remember who the woman was or where she gave him to her.
At a news conference Tuesday, Police Chief Hank Stawinski said the baby had been found, being cared for by a woman he described as “responsible.”
Stawinski said police are still investigating how the child ended up with the woman. The chief said she apparently didn’t know the boy was missing, and contacted police after seeing a news report about the disappearance.
