PRESTON, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut state police say a man accused of killing another man in a drive-by shooting after an argument at a casino has been charged with murder and weapons violations.
The Day reports that 25-year-old Francis Giannelli, of Glastonbury, turned himself in to Montville police Tuesday.
Police say Giannelli fired multiple shots at a pickup truck in Preston early Saturday, killing 35-year-old Robert Thompson, who was a passenger.
According to police documents, Giannelli told investigators he shot at the truck in self-defense and that the men had made threatening gestures at Mohegan Sun. Authorities say Giannelli told them he saw the driver reach down for what appeared to be a gun.
Gianelli did not speak at his arraignment Wednesday.
