TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A registered sex offender in Tucson has been convicted of soliciting minors and downloading child porn.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office said Monday that a jury convicted 44-year-old Patrick Michael Winkler on 16 counts related to sexually exploiting a minor.

Prosecutors say Winkler was released in March 2017 on community supervision after serving 15 years for child molestation.

His parole officer last year found images of underage girls in an online account belonging to Winkler.

This led to a police investigation. Detectives found Winkler had downloaded videos and imagery of child porn between November 2017 and March 2018.

He also is accused of using the cellphone app “Whisper” to contact minors.

The convictions mean he faces a mandatory sentence of at least 100 years.

Winkler will be sentenced Nov. 12.
