PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say a Philadelphia homeowner fatally shot an intruder as they struggled over a gun.

The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Responding police officers found the alleged intruder had been shot in the head, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The homeowner suffered a graze wound to the head and was being treated at a hospital.

Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle flee the scene shortly after the shootings occurred, and it was stopped by police a short time later. The three people in the vehicle were being questioned but were not facing any charges as of early Thursday.

Authorities say there were other adult family members of the homeowner in the residence when the shootings occurred, but no other injuries were reported.
