PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Two men police say plotted to steal an ATV after breaking into Rhode Island garage have been charged with breaking and entering.

Providence police responded to a call just before 4 a.m. on Monday and reported seeing two individuals fleeing over a fence.

Officers used a police dog to locate the men hiding in brush.

The men were identified as Andy Melgar and Eric Black Jr. Both are 21 years old and from Providence.

The Providence Journal reports that Melgar is also facing an additional charge for possession of a prohibited weapon for having a four-inch spring loaded knife.

No attorney was listed for Black in court records. A message was left with Melgar’s attorney.

Both were released on $5,000 bond.
