GILBERT, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Gilbert say they’re still investigating the death of a child who was left inside a vehicle for up to three hours on a hot day.

They say the decision to submit criminal charges will be determined once the investigation is complete.

The name of the 3-year-old girl who died hasn’t been released yet, but police say that information could come Friday along with copies of the 911 call.

Police and city fire and rescue crews responded to the scene around noon Tuesday.

They were told the child was in the vehicle for two to three hours in triple-digit temperatures outside.

Despite CPR and other medical intervention, they say the child was transported to the hospital and was later declared dead.
