Man sentenced to 20 years in prison in drug killing

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison in a drug conspiracy that included a fatal shooting.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 42-year-old Marquis Reasonover was sentenced Tuesday for federal charges in the 2014 death of Antonio Jones of Ferguson. He and two other men, 46-year-old Hairl Johnson and 47-year-old Randell Patton, pleaded guilty to using a firearm to commit murder in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and conspiracy to distribute cocaine and heroin.

Federal prosecutors say the shooting stemmed from a fight about missing heroin. The men then put Jones’ body in the trunk of his car, drove it to East St. Louis, Illinois, and set it on fire with Jones’ body inside.

Johnson and Patton are set to be sentenced next month.
