BRENTWOOD, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire doctor has been sentenced to five to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a patient.
Hugh MacDonald, of Newfields, pleaded guilty in Rockingham County Superior Court on Thursday to four counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault.
WMUR-TV reports prosecutors said the 58-year-old MacDonald was the primary care physician for a woman in her 40s in 2018 when he took advantage of their professional relationship and sexually assaulted her. Assistant County Attorney Melissa Fales said MacDonald knew she had a history of trauma and mental health issues.
Prosecutors said MacDonald would call the victim to his Newmarket office during off hours, when the assaults took place.
MacDonald’s medical license has been suspended. He must register as a sex offender when he’s released from prison.
