SAUGUS, Mass. (AP) - Massachusetts officials say two adults have been struck by a car and injured while crossing a street with two children in Saugus.

State and Saugus police say the accident happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. Friday on Route 99. The children were not injured.

Authorities say a 57-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries and an adult man who was struck is expected to recover.



Police say the driver was a 67-year-old Malden man, who stayed at the scene. No charges have been announced.

State and Saugus are investigating the cause of the accident.
