LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - U.S. Postal Service customers can obtain a pictorial postmark to commemorate the first day of issue of the contemporary boutonniere and garden corsage stamps.
The postmark was designed by Norine Masterson, postmaster at New Haven, Kentucky.
An event in conjunction with the first day of issue had been set for last Thursday at Yew Dell Gardens in Crestwood, but it was canceled to follow social distancing guidelines because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Postal Service said in a news release.
To obtain the postmark, submit a request postmarked no later than May 2. Include a stamped envelope or postcard with at least first-class postage not issued after April 2.
Customers should affix stamps to any envelope or postcard, address it to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness and tuck in the flap. Place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope and address to Pictorial Postmarks, Yew Dell Botanical Gardens Station, Crestwood, KY 40014-9998.
Stamped envelopes and postcards can also be submitted for postmark without addresses, but customers should include a larger envelope with adequate postage and their return address.
