CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A West Virginia man was arrested and accused of starting a fire that killed one man and left another man injured, authorities said.

Jerry Walker, 43, was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree arson and first-degree murder, WCHS-TV reported.

On Monday, Charleston police said Eric Dewey White, 37, died in the fire and Ronnie Coleman, 61, was injured and hospitalized.

A Charleston police criminal complaint said surveillance cameras captured Walker lighting something on fire and throwing it on a porch Saturday morning.

The complaint said Walker was seen walking toward his home and standing there for several minutes, watching the houses burn.

Police said they interviewed Coleman at the hospital. He told investigators White and Walker got into an argument that turned physical about a week ago. The criminal complaint said Coleman heard Walker threaten to kill White.

It’s unclear whether Walker had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
