BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Two people are recovering from gunshot wounds from two separate shootings in Vermont, according to Burlington Police.
Burlington Police Deputy Chief Jon Murad said in a statement that the two Saturday shootings were not related.
Joshua Brissette turned himself in Monday and is in custody for allegedly shooting a woman in the chest, according to Burlington Police.
Authorities say they received a call from a woman claiming to be Brissette’s roommate reporting that he had stolen her car at 6:13 p.m. Authorities were dispatched for a reported shooting five minutes later.
The victim was conscious and identified the shooter as Brissette before being transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center for her injuries.
Police say the second incident was the result of a man accidentally shooting himself in the leg. An officer administered immediate first-aid on the scene.
It could not be immediately determined if Brissette is represented by a lawyer.
