WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A man whose vehicle crashed into a pole in West Palm Beach on Monday had been fatally shot moments earlier, police said.

The man was ejected from the vehicle and deputies found his body in the road, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office told news outlets.

Investigators say the doors of the man’s vehicle had several bullet holes in them. Deputies believe the man was shot and then lost control of the vehicle, which slammed into the utility pole.

The man’s name or description of his vehicle was not immediately available.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case.
