COLLINGSWOOD, N.J. (AP) - Authorities on Monday were searching for a man who they say broke into a home, attacked a resident and tied up another before setting the house on fire.
Firefighters extinguished the flames and found the residents inside the home on Crestmont Terrace on Sunday afternoon, Camden County Prosecutor Jill Mayer and Collingswood Police Chief Kevin Carey said in a news release.
“Detectives learned a man allegedly broke in, attacked one victim and tied the other up while demanding money. He then set the house on fire before leaving,” investigators said.
One of the victims described the suspect as a thin man with a short beard who was wearing a yellow winter hat and a yellow and black zip-up sweatshirt.
Authorities did not release information about the extent of the victims’ injuries.
