ROCKLAND, Mass. (AP) - One woman was taken to the hospital and about 20 people were displaced by a fire at a Massachusetts apartment building early Thursday, authorities said.

Crews responded to the Rockland building at about midnight and firefighters found the woman unconscious on the third-floor, Rockland fire Chief Scott Duffey said. She was taken to South Shore Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

A firefighter also suffered a minor injury, he said.

Everyone else who lived in the three-floor building was accounted for, he said.

The Red Cross said it is helping about 20 people who were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Duffey says it appears to have started in a second-floor bedroom and was accidental.

About a dozen area fire apartments aided with battling the blaze, which took about 40 minutes to get under control.
