FALL CHURCH, Va. (AP) - A Virginia high school teacher has been arrested and accused of having a sexual relationship with a student, authorities said.

Fairfax County police arrested Philip Spivey, 57, on Wednesday and charged him with four felony counts of indecent liberties by a custodian, news outlets reported.

Justice High School Principal Maria Eck said staff at the school learned of the relationship this month and notified police. Spivey was on leave when the allegations were made and hasn’t been to the school since Jan. 8, Eck said.

The school lists Spivey as an English teacher for students with different native languages, and authorities said he also was a private music teacher. Police asked anyone who may have had inappropriate contact with the teacher to call investigators.

Authorities did not release details about the student or the nature of the relationship.
