WINSTON SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in North Carolina have requested help from the Mexican Consulate in the effort to find a man who police say was kidnapped during a December home invasion.

Diego Daniel Quintero Fregozo, 21, was last seen on Dec. 16 being forcefully removed from a home by multiple suspects, Winston-Salem police Capt. Steven Tollie said at a news conference. Three other people, including a 15-year-old, were tied up and assaulted with a gun, a blunt instrument, knives and a stun gun, police officials said at the time.

The department is now working with the Mexican Consulate to locate a family member of Fregozo, Tollie told The Winston-Salem Journal on Monday. Police hadn’t been able to find anyone in contact with that family member or anyone who has information on him, he said.

Christian Brian Hernandez, 26, and Perla Molina Reyes, 25, told investigators the house where the invasion happened was being used to store and distribute drugs and drug trafficking money, Tollie said. Investigators think the suspects targeted the house because of that.

Hernandez, Reyes and the 15-year-old were taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries, the agency said
