FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Two men were killed in separate motorcycle crashes in South Florida about two hours apart on Monday, authorities said.

The first crash occurred in Dania Beach, just south of Fort Lauderdale, around 4 p.m. and the second happened around 6 p.m. in Oakland Park, to the north of Fort Lauderdale, according to Broward Sheriff’s Office news releases.

In the first crash, a man was riding a motorcycle along a set of railroad tracks when he reached a crossing and was hit by a car trying to drive over the tracks, officials said. The man died at a nearby hospital. Investigators didn’t say why the man was riding his motorcycle on railroad tracks.

In the second crash, the rider was traveling on a street when he struck a raised concrete median, officials said. The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered severe head trauma. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
