GRAFTON, Ohio (AP) - A man shot his estranged wife several times during an argument at their home before fatally shooting himself, authorities said.

The 60-year-old man confronted his 53-year-old wife at their Grafton home shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday. The couple had recently separated and, when the woman refused to reconcile, the man tried to trap her in their garage, authorities said.

The woman escaped but her husband ran after her and opened fire. The woman was shot three times in the “upper extremities” before she got in her car and drove off as the man shot at the vehicle, authorities said.

The woman soon approached a police officer and reported the shooting. Law enforcement officers then responded to the home and tried unsuccessfully to contact the man. He was later found dead in the garage, authorities said.

The woman was being treated for wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said. The couple’s names have not been released,
