Death of boy, 12, ‘may have been accidental,’ police said

CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) - Police in Cleveland are investigating the shooting death of a 12-year-old boy in the city, authorities said.

The child was shot at about 1:30 p.m. Monday and taken to University Hospitals’ Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police said the homicide unit is investigating but “preliminary information indicates that this incident may have been accidental.” The child’s name and other details weren’t immediately released.
