MAGEE, Miss. (AP) - Two teenagers were killed and a third person was injured in a shooting in Mississippi’s Simpson County.
Sheriff Paul Mullins said deputies were called to a home around 3:30 a.m. Monday.
“Witnesses saying they heard gunshots and heard chaos, and upon our arrival, the three subjects we found were all at the house,” Mullins said.
A 17-year-old was dead at the scene. Datavion Fairley, 19, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Mullins said. Jarvis Loftin, 24, was injured in the shooting and was hospitalized, officials said.
Relatives identified the 17-year-old victim as Briceyah Mills, WAPT-TV reported.
Meanwhile, investigators suspect the victims knew their attackers.
“I don’t think the arm(ed) suspect is still in the area and it may be more than one suspect. We’re trying to anchor that down at this point to see how many people were involved in this,” Mullins told WLBT-TV. “I just wish these people, if they were involved, to make it easy on yourself and turn yourself in because we’re going to get to the bottom of it.”
Mullins said the incident is being investigated as a double homicide. Investigators are working to get surveillance video from nearby Boswell Regional Center with hopes of identifying those responsible for the shootings.
A reward of up to $2,500 is available for any information leading to an arrest, investigators said.
