ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Florida deputies killed a domestic violence suspect Tuesday morning during a shootout, authorities said.

Five deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office fugitive team went to an Orlando-area neighborhood to arrest the 39-year-old black man on several domestic violence and weapons charges from a nearby city, Sheriff John Mina said during a news conference.

The man, who officials did not immediately name, fired at least twice as deputies got out of their vehicles in front of a house, Mina said. All five deputies returned fire.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Mina said. Officials did not say how many times the man was hit or which deputies fired those shots.

State law enforcement officials will investigate the shooting.

Names and races of the deputies involved in the shooting were not immediately released.
