JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - A shooting at a Joplin hookah lounge that left two people dead and third injured began with an argument over an iPad t being used to play music in the lounge, police investigating the shooting said.
Prosecutors on Monday charged Raymond Badios, 20, of Joplin, with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of assault and three counts of armed criminal action in the Sunday night shooting at Bites N Pipes, the Joplin Globe reported. The shooting killed Toua Lee, 36, of Joplin, and Chong Xiong, 30, of Duenweg, and seriously injured a customer at the lounge.
Investigators said in an affidavit that Badios was involved in a physical fight over the iPad when he retrieved a gun from inside the lounge. He then started to leave, police said, but stepped back in and shot Lee, whom police said was not involved in the fight.
Badios then fired a second shot that injured a patron before turning the gun on Xiong and shooting him several times, police said. Several people then tackled Badios and held him until police arrived. Lee and Xiong died at the scene.
Police said Monday that the shooting was not connected to an assault reported at the lounge a week earlier.
