Disgruntled because of a lack of a new contract, Quinton Dunbar appears to be getting his wish.
The Washington Redskins are making their top cornerback available in a trade, according to Pro Football Talk. Last month, Dunbar, after contract talks had stalled, demanded to be traded or released from the Redskins, a source familiar with the situation said.
Dunbar is entering the final year of his contract and set to make $3.25 million. The 27-year-old was ranked the third-best cornerback in the league in 2019, according to Pro Football Focus.
Dunbar, too, had a career-high four interceptions last season despite playing only 11 games.
It is unclear what type of return Dunbar would warrant. While he has improved year after year, the former receiver-turned-corner has struggled to stay healthy — missing five games in 2019 and nine games in 2018.
The Detroit Lions, though, received a third- and a fifth-round pick for Pro Bowl corner Darius Slay in last week’s trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.
