PRINCETON, W.Va. (AP) - A 7-year-old West Virginia boy is recovering from a gunshot wound suffered while hunting, authorities said.

West Virginia Natural Resources Police said the boy and his 20-year-old brother were hunting Tuesday in the same heavily-forested area as a family acquaintance, WDTV-TV reported. The acquaintance mistook movement from the pair as a turkey and fired, police said in a statement.

The 7-year-old boy was taken to a hospital and is recovering, authorities said. His older brother was treated at the scene.

Officials did not release any names. They said the acquaintance provided first aid after the shooting and has cooperated in the investigation.
