SEATTLE (AP) - A total of six Washington state sheriff’s deputies have been placed on administrative leave as officials investigate use of force during two incidents, The Seattle Times reported.
In one case, deputies fought with a man suspected of violating a domestic violence protection order in Arlington. One deputy used a Taser on the man, according to a statement by a team of law enforcement officers that reviews police use-of-force events.
The man was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Colby with serious injuries.
The two deputies were placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with department policy.
Four other deputies were placed on paid administrative leave Wednesday after a disturbance involving a man experiencing a mental-health crisis near Lynnwood.
The deputies approached the 43-year-old man and a short fight followed after he tried to grab a deputy’s gun, Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell said.
The man was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he remained in critical but medically stable condition, a police statement said.
It is unclear if he was hurt during the altercation with deputies or was previously injured. Snell said police received at least two calls indicating the man was a victim of an assault earlier in the day.
Neither of the injured men were identified.
The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team was investigating the incidents involving the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
