KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a Kingman man who allegedly twice pointed a gun at two Mohave County sheriff’s deputies is dead after being shot, possibly by himself.

The Kingman Police Department said it is investigating the incident that began Wednesday when Arizona Department Public Safety officers tried unsuccessfully to stop a SUV.

The Police Department said in a statement that the SUV’s driver refused to stop for the DPS detectives and that he pointed a gun but did not fire at a sheriff’s deputy who later spotted the SUV and stopped it.

According to the Police Department, the driver kept walking and pointed a gun at a second deputy who fired several times.

The department said the man had pointed the gun at his own head between the two encounters with deputies and was found dead nearby after the second encounter.

No identities were released.
