HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - The body of an Alabama teenager who went missing while fishing earlier this week was pulled Friday from the Elk River.

Emergency crews found Miguel Alonso’s body in the river, said Stephen Young, a spokesman for the Limestone County sheriff’s office.

How the 16-year-old died remains under investigation, Young told AL.com.

Divers had been searching for Alonso since Thursday. Family reported the teen missing because he didn’t return home from a fishing trip on Wednesday. He was last seen fishing on the river bank near a boat ramp in the Clements area of Limestone County near the Lauderdale County line.

At the river, deputies found some of Alonso’s fishing gear, but the teen wasn’t there.
