FREEPORT, N.Y. (AP) - One man is dead and searchers are looking for another after a fishing boat capsized in choppy waters off Long Island.

The 22-foot fishing boat overturned Saturday morning after it was hit by several large waves near Jones Beach Inlet, Nassau County police said. All four people aboard were thrown overboard.

Two men, ages 24 and 26, survived after people on a passing boat pulled them from the water. John Costa of Farmingdale, the 54-year-old operator of the stricken vessel, was later removed from the water by the New York City Police Aviation Dive Team and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

A search continued Sunday for the fourth passenger, 55-year-old Joseph Sparacio of Farmingdale, police said.
