NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - A convicted sex offender was found with the identification cards of four different women when he recently broke into a woman’s home while she was asleep, police said.

Roger Dennis, 46, was charged Thursday with burglary, theft, theft of a motor vehicle and criminal mischief in connection with several recent thefts, New Castle County police said.

The News Journals reports that Dennis was released on $17,100 unsecured bail after being identified as the suspect in the incidents, police said.

Police arrested Dennis after a woman called 911 to report a man broke into her house.

The victim told officers that she was asleep when she heard her bedroom door open. She said the man fled when she swatted his hand away.

As the victim called police, she noticed her driver’s license was missing from her purse. New Castle County police conducted a neighborhood canvass and were able to identify Dennis as the suspect.

After he was taken into custody, officers found four different women’s driver’s licenses on him.

The newspaper reported that Dennis was convicted of unlawful third-degree sexual conduct in June 1989 and in a 1990 rape, burglary, robbery and kidnapping.
