What Nick Chubb did toward the end of Sunday’s 10-7 Browns win over the Texans made football sense. Cleveland had a lead with under a minute left, and no matter how unlikely it would’ve been for Houston to come back from a 17-7 deficit with so little time, Chubb ensured his opponent would have no chance.

Much to the chagrin of fantasy football players who started Chubb or sports bettors who picked the Browns to exceed the 3.5-point spread.

The Cleveland running back broke free late in the contest and had nothing but open turf in front of him. He could’ve sauntered into the end zone for a 60-yard touchdown. Instead, he hopped out of bounds at the 1-yard line, allowing Baker Mayfield to take two knees to secure the win.

That cost his fantasy owners some points, and some bettors some money. But Chubb won’t care. He still finished with 126 rushing yards and a touchdown.

It was an unselfish play, and he executed it well — unlike some other running backs this year. Last month, Todd Gurley attempted to do the same. But the Atlanta tailback accidentally tumbled across the end zone, giving Detroit an opportunity to respond with a minute remaining.

And the Lions did, winning 23-22, leaving Gurley vexed about a play he’s done correctly in the past.
