WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Three men accused of shooting into an apartment complex in North Carolina were charged following a car chase with police.
The pursuit ensued when responding officers attempted to stop a car fleeing the scene of the shooting Thursday evening in Lexington, the city’s police department said in a statement. Officers chased the vehicle to Interstate 85, where the pursuit ended.
Two men in the car, Tion Demond Brown and Cody Lee Harden, had suffered gunshot wounds, while the driver, Ryan Shymeek Mumford, was uninjured, the statement said. Brown and Harden were taken to a hospital for treatment.
All three men have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, shooting into an occupied dwelling and inflicting serious injury, the Winston-Salem Journal reported.
A teenager who was not in the car was also hospitalized for gunshot wounds he suffered during the shooting, police said.
It was not immediately clear if Brown, Harden or Mumford had an attorney who could comment on their behalf.
