PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A mother has been charged in the death of her 5-year-old son who was found unresponsive in the bathroom of a west Philadelphia apartment, police said
Jennifer Joseph, 40, is charged with murder and child endangerment in the death of 5-year-old Devon Joseph, according to court documents.
Police said the defendant’s husband told officers he came home shortly after 10 p.m. Monday to find the boy on the floor of the bathroom and his wife in the bedroom bleeding from self-inflicted lacerations to her wrist.
The child was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was pronounced dead just after 11 p.m. Monday. Police haven’t specified a cause of death. Officers took the woman to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was in stable condition.
Court documents don’t list an attorney for the defendant and a listed number for her couldn’t be found Wednesday.
