CENTRAL
AUSTIN: GOOD. Water clear; 76 degrees; 0.72’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on jigs, crankbaits, and spinners near boat docks, ledges, and rocky shorelines. There is an early morning bite with topwaters, poppers, and chuggers on rocky points and grass beds. Sunfish are good on earthworms and live crickets along ledges, boat docks, and brush. Catfish are good punch bait and shrimp.
BASTROP: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 74 degrees. Largemouth bass are good fishing creeks ledges, shorelines, and shallow brush on spinners, small crankbaits, brown or green craws, and drop shots. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in brush piles and standing timber in 14-25’. Channel and blue catfish are good on cut bait and earthworms.
BELTON: EXCELLENT. Water clear; 71 degrees; 0.34’ low. Black bass are good near creek mouths and brushy outcrops on crankbaits, jigs, and wacky worms. White bass are excellent on the main lake flats, humps, and drop-offs with slabs and swimbaits in 20-35’. Hybrid stripers are good with live bait in the main lake from 18-35’. Topwater plugs, crankbaits, and swimbaits are effective with surfacing schools of hybrids and white bass. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in brush piles in 15-28’. Catfish are good on cut bait and punch bait.
BROWNWOOD: GOOD. Water clear; 73 degrees; 2.14’ low. Largemouth bass are fair with crankbaits, jigs, and spinners in 3-12’ near creek drop-offs, rocky shorelines, and fallen timber. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in brush piles and timber near a creek channel. White bass and hybrids are good on jigging spoons and slabs in the main lake near humps, drop-offs, and flats. Catfish are good on punch bait, shrimp, and cut bait in 6-20’ near baited areas.
BUCHANAN: EXCELLENT. Water lightly stained; 72-76 degrees; 3.54’ low. Largemouth bass are good with skirted jigs, bronze bladed spinners, and medium-size crankbaits working wind-driven points, rock ledges, and the rocky shorelines. Striped bass are good along the river channel with live bait in 25-35’. White bass are excellent on slabs near drop-offs, humps, and flats. Use sonar to locate schools of baitfish and feeding fish. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in 16-28’ fishing timber and brush piles. Channel catfish are good on punch bait, shrimp, and cut bait.
CANYON LAKE: EXCELLENT. Water clear; 74 degrees; 4.10’ low. Striper fishing is good along the river channel ledges with live bait. White bass are excellent on humps, flats, and ridges with chartreuse or white slabs and jigging spoons. Look for birds diving over feeding schools. Largemouth bass are good with crankbaits, jigs, and plastic finesse worms near docks, timber, and rock piles. Smallmouth bass are good on plastic grubs and small cranks in 3-12’ along rock ledges and steep rocky shorelines. Catfish are good with prepared baits and cut bait. Crappie are good with live minnows and jigs near rocky drop-offs, brush piles, and timber in 12-25’.
FAYETTE: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees. Largemouth bass are good on swimbaits, jigs, and finesse worms on rocky points, shorelines, and brushy coves. Sunfish are fair on earthworms and live crickets around bank ledges and structure. Catfish are good on punch bait near baited areas.
GRANBURY: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 72 degrees; 0.11’ low. Largemouth bass are good on crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and Texas-rigged plastic worms in 6-15’ near boathouses, submerged timber, and rock ledges. Crappie fishing is good around brush piles and boat docks with minnows and jigs. Catfishing is good with cut bait or punch bait. White bass are good using slabs, small crankbaits, and swimbaits. Stripers are good with live bait or trolling with swimbaits along the main lake channel in 20-35’. Watch for birds diving on feeding schools.
GRANGER: GOOD. Water clear; 74 degrees; 1.38’ low. Black bass are fair on crankbaits, spinners, jigs near rock banks, creek channels, and tree stumps. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs on brush piles and timber near a drop off in 14-24’. White bass are good on slabs in 20-30’ near main lake humps, flats, and drop-offs. Catfish are good on cut bait and earthworms. Yellow cats are fair on live perch and goldfish.
LIMESTONE: GOOD. Water clear; 74 degrees; 0.51’ low. Largemouth bass are good on plastic worms and craws, medium-sized crankbaits and jigs along ledges with timber or brush, creek channels, and off rocky points and shorelines. White bass are good with jigging spoons and slabs near flats, drop-offs, and ledges in the main lake in 15-30’. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs around brush piles and submerged timber. Catfish are good on cut bait or shrimp.
LBJ: GOOD. Water clear; 74 degrees; 0.67’ low. Black bass are fair on root beer, plum or raspberry plastic finesse worms, and shallow diving crankbaits near docks, creeks edges, and rocky areas. Crappie are good on minnows and lighter jigs around brush piles and docks. White bass are good over main lake points, flats drop-offs, and humps in 20-35’ with white or chartreuse slabs and jigging spoons. Catfish are good on punch bait in 8-15’.
NAVARRO MILLS: GOOD. Water clear; 74 degrees; 0.35’ low. Crappie are fair on minnows around the marina, brush piles, and standing timber in 12-25’. Catfish are good with prepared bait and cut bait. White bass are good on slabs and jigging spoons in 15-30’. Black bass are good with crankbaits, jigs, and spinners near docks, brush piles, and timber.
PROCTOR: GOOD. Water clear; 75 degrees; 0.17’ low. Largemouth bass are good on Texas-rigged worms, skirted jigs, and small crankbaits in submerged brush, creeks, and sloping shorelines. Hybrid stripers are good with live bait in the main lake around 22-35’. Crappie are good with minnows in 14-28’ in standing timber and brush piles. Catfish remain good on prepared bait and cut bait.
SOMERVILLE: GOOD. Water clear; 72-75 degrees; 2.05’ low. White bass and hybrids are good with white slabs and jigging spoons in 25-35’ on main lake flats, slopes, ridges, and humps. Crappie are good on live minnows in brush piles and flooded timber in 14-25’. Catfish are good with earthworms and punch bait in 15-25’. Largemouth bass are good with wacky worms, crankbaits, and silver bladed spinnerbaits near the creek mouths, drop-offs, rocky shorelines, and roadbeds.
STILLHOUSE HOLLOW: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 73 degrees; 2.55’ high. Black bass are good on jigs and brush hogs working brush piles, rock bluffs, and submerged timber. Smallmouth bass are good with plastic grubs and craws and small crankbaits near rocky banks, ledges, and drop-offs. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in brush piles and standing timber in 14-28’. White bass are good on slabs and jigs off main lake ridges, humps, drop-offs, and along the dam. Catfish are good with punch bait. Blue cats are good with prepared bait near brush piles.
TRAVIS: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 74 degrees; 20.36’ low. Largemouth bass are good with crankbaits, swimbaits, and skirted jigs near boat docks, marinas, rock ledges, and points. White bass are good with jigging spoons and slabs working main lake flats, drop-offs, and humps. Trolling is effective with swimbaits. Striper action along the main river channel is good with live bait and heavy jigging spoons. Watch for bird activity to indicate feeding schools near the surface. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in 15-25’ near docks, brush piles, and rock ledges. Catfish are good on cut bait and prepared baits in 10-20’.
WALTER E. LONG: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 74 degrees. Largemouth bass are fair on jigs and crankbaits near creeks mouths, points, and drop-offs. Hybrid stripers are good with live shad. Crappie are good on minnows in 14-24’ near brush piles or submerged timber. Catfish are good on cut bait and prepared bait. Sunfish are good on worms, shrimp, and crickets.
WACO: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 71 degrees; 0.77’ low. Largemouth bass are good on crankbaits, jigs, and spinnerbaits near the creeks, brush, rocky shorelines, and coves. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs fishing brush piles around 13-20’. Sunfish are good on cutworms or live crickets. Channel and blue catfish are good on punch bait near baited areas.
WHITNEY: EXCELLENT. Water lightly stained; 70-74 degrees; 2.31’ low. Black bass are good on rocky points, creeks ledges, timber and weed beds on plastic worms, smaller crankbaits, and skirted jigs. Topwater plugs are working early in shallow areas where shad is present. White bass are excellent on the main lake with jigging spoons and slabs. Stripers are good with live shad along the main lake river channel edges in 15-35’. Watch for diving birds working the feeding schools of White bass and Stripers. Crappie are good with jigs and minnows in 14-25’ timber near creek channels and brush piles. Catfish are good on punch bait, shrimp, and cut bait.
NORTHEAST
ARLINGTON: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 71 degrees; 4.49’ low. Largemouth bass are good on white spinners, jerk baits, skirted jigs, and finesse worms on points, drop-offs, and submerged brush. Crappie are good near boat docks and timber on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on punch baits and shrimp in 12-18’.
ATHENS: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 69 degrees; 0.25’ high. Largemouth bass are good on crankbaits, gold-bladed spinners, and Texas-rigged plastic worms working the creeks, brush piles, and flooded timber. Crappie are good with minnows in standing timber and boat docks. Catfish are good on punch bait and cut bait. Sunfish are good on cutworms and crickets.
BENBROOK: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 72 degrees; 4.46’ low. Largemouth bass are fair fishing crankbaits, jigs, and wacky worms near rocky shorelines, ridges, and humps. Crappie are good on minnows and small jigs fishing structure and brush piles in 12-25’. Hybrid striped bass are fair with slabs and live bait. White bass are good with slabs and jigging spoons on the flats, ridges, drop-offs, and humps. Watch for diving birds to mark schools of feeding fish. Catfish are good with punch bait, shrimp, and live bait over baited areas.
BOB SANDLIN: GOOD. Water clear; 69 degrees; 0.78’ low. Black bass are good on crankbaits, spinners, and Texas-rigged plastic worms in 6-18’ near brush, rocks, and boat docks. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in brush piles, bridges in 15-25’. Catfish are good on cut bait and punch bait in 12-25’ near baited holes.
BRIDGEPORT: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 70-74 degrees; 3.14’ low. Black bass are good on jigs, crankbaits, and finesse plastic worms in 12-18’ fishing deeper docks, main lake points with near timber, drop-offs, and points. There is an early topwater bite on the points. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs, fishing bridges, timber and brush piles. White bass are excellent on chartreuse or white slabs on main lake drop-offs, flats, and channels. Hybrid stripers are good on main lake humps and points with live bait. Catfish are good on cut bait, shrimp, and prepared bait in 8-20’.
CADDO: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 0.28’ high. Largemouth bass are good in shallow water near grass beds, and weed lines working jerk baits and skirted jigs in 3-5’. Texas-rigged plastic worms and crankbaits are productive in deeper water near timber and vegetation lines. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs near brush piles and timber edges. White bass are good on slabs in the main lake. Chain pickerel are slow. Catfish are good on prepared bait, live bait, and nightcrawlers in 7-20’ fishing baited holes near channels and timber edges.
CEDAR CREEK: EXCELLENT. Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 0.60’ low. Largemouth bass are good working topwater plugs and jerk baits early on creek ledges, points, boat docks, and retainer walls. Shaky heads, jigs, and crankbaits fished near boat docks, brush piles, and timber are productive later in the day. Hybrids and sand bass are off main lake points and humps with slabs, swimbaits, and live bait. Crappie are excellent with jigs and minnows in brush piles, boat docks, and bridges in 15-28’. Catfish are excellent in 10-25’ with punch bait, shrimp, and cut bait.
COOPER: GOOD. Water clear; 71 degrees; 3.64’ low. Largemouth bass are good on wacky-rigged plastic worms, medium crankbaits, and skirted jigs in 6-15’. The white bass and hybrids are good in 25-35’ with live bait, slabs, and jigging spoons over humps, ridges, and near main lake drop-offs. Crappie are good with minnows and jigs on brush piles and timber near creek channels. Catfish are good on cut bait and prepared bait in 11-25’.
EAGLE MOUNTAIN: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 72 degrees; 1.41’ low. Black bass are fair fishing jigs, finesse worms, and small crankbaits near boat docks and brush piles. White bass are good with chartreuse slabs fishing humps, flats, and drop-offs. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs between 15-25’ working docks, submerged brush, and standing timber. Catfish are good on fresh cut bait and punch bait.
FORK: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 71 degrees; 1.98’ low. Largemouth bass are good on jigs, crankbaits, and spinners near heavy timber, roadbeds, brushy points, and rocky shorelines. White and yellow bass are fair in deeper water with slabs and jigging spoons. Crappie are good on minnows in 18-25’ in brush piles and standing timber near creek ledges or drop-offs. Catfish are good on punch bait and cut bait in 12-24’.
GRAHAM: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 0.72’ low. Largemouth bass are good on plastic worms, skirted jigs, and jerk baits in timber and near docks, brushy points, rocky shorelines, and creek channels. Crappie are good on minnows and shad colored jigs in channel bends, brush piles, and under deeper boat docks. White bass are good on slabs and jigging spoons. Hybrid stripers are good on live bait and slabs in 20-35’. Catfish are good on cut shad, punch bait, and live bait.
GRAPEVINE: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 69 degrees; 0.55’ low. Largemouth bass are good on crankbaits, Texas-rigged worms, and spinners in brush piles, standing timber, and rough shorelines. White bass are good in 20-35’ with slabs and jigging spoons near main lake humps, flats, and drop-offs. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in marinas and near submerged structure. Catfish are good on punch bait and cut bait.
JACKSONVILLE: GOOD. Water clear; 72 degrees; 0.16’ low. Largemouth bass are good with purple or dark-blue finesse worms, white spinners, and medium-sized crankbaits near docks, rip-rap, brush and brush piles. Crappie are good on minnows and gray jigs in 14-25’ around submerged structure and brush piles. Catfish are good on cut shad, earthworms, and punch bait.
JOE POOL: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 71 degrees; 1.10’ low. Largemouth bass are good fishing shad like crankbaits, skirted jigs, and spinners along channel ledges, vegetation edges, and rocky shorelines. Crappie are good near brush piles and timber on minnows in 15-28’. Catfish are good on punch bait and chicken liver.
LAKE O’ THE PINES: GOOD. Water stained; 70 degrees; 0.05’ high. Largemouth bass are good on finesse worms, skirted jigs, and crankbaits in 8-24’. Crappie are good on minnows in the standing timber areas along the creek channel, bridges, and brush piles in 15-28’. Catfish are fair with cut bait or punch bait.
LAVON: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 71 degrees; 1.58’ low. Crappie are good on minnows or jigs fishing 12-24’ over brush piles and bridges. White bass are excellent in the 20-30’ bouncing slabs and heavy spoons. Look for birds diving over feeding schools of white bass. Black bass are fair on crankbaits, wacky worms, and jigs in 8-24’. Catfish are good on punch bait in 14-25’.
LEWISVILLE: EXCELLENT. Water lightly stained; 69 degrees; 0.52’ low. Black bass are good fishing points, coves, drop-offs, and standing timber with the crankbaits, plastic worms, and bladed jigs. White bass are excellent on white or chartreuse bouncing slabs and jigging spoons in 20-35’. Look for birds diving over feeding schools of white bass. Swimbaits and chrome slabs are effective with this topwater action Crappie are good on minnows and small crankbaits around brush piles, bridges, and standing timber. Catfish are excellent on cut bait and punch bait.
MARTIN CREEK: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 72 degrees; 2.29’ low. Largemouth bass are good on spinners, crankbaits, and wacky worms in 8-18’. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs in 12-28’ in timber and brush piles. Catfish are good on punch bait in 12-25’.
PALESTINE: GOOD. Water clear; 72 degrees; 0.30’ low. Largemouth bass are fair working Texas-rigged worms, jigs, and small crankbaits near boat docks, drop-offs, lily pads, and rocks. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs around bridges and timber in 15-25’. Hybrid stripers are good on live bait, A-rigs, and swimbaits. White bass are good on slabs and jigging spoons. Look for birds diving over feeding schools. Catfish are good on punch bait, chicken liver, and cut bait.
PALO PINTO: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 73 degrees; 0.89’ low. Largemouth bass are good on points, flats, and brush piles with Texas-rigged plastic worms or craws, diving crankbaits, and skirted jigs. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows near boat docks and brush piles in 14-28’. White bass are good on slabs near main lake points, drop-offs, and flats. Hybrid bass are good on live shad in 20-35’. Catfish are good on punch bait and cut bait.
RAY HUBBARD: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 1.34’ low. Largemouth bass are good on craws, crankbaits, white spinners, and jigs in timber, near banks, ledges, and drop-offs. White bass are good fishing slabs and white jigging spoons on main lake flats, humps, and slopes in 12-28’. Crappie are good near bridges, brush piles, and submerged timber in with minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on cut bait in 12-25’.
RAY ROBERTS: GOOD; Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 0.52’ low. Largemouth bass are good on finesse or wacky worms, chrome or silver crankbaits, and white spinners in 5-20’ near timber, rip rap, and creek ledges. White bass are good in 15-35’ on white or chartreuse slabs near main lake points, slopes, and drop-offs. Crappie are good on minnows and small jigs in brush piles between 18-28’. Catfish are good on punch bait and cut bait.
RICHLAND CHAMBERS: EXCELLENT. Water lightly stained; 69-74 degrees; 0.97’ low. Largemouth bass are good on shad-like crankbaits, skirted jigs, and finesse worms fishing near boat docks, wind-driven points, creeks ledges, and drop-offs. White bass and hybrids are excellent on slabs and jigging spoons or deeper near main lake points, flats, and humps. Crappie are good on minnows or downsized jigs on bridge pilings, timber, and in brush piles. Catfish are excellent on cut bait and live perch. Bream are good on live crickets near boat docks, shallow brush, and rocky shorelines.
SQUAW CREEK: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 73 degrees; 0.36’ high. Catfishing is good in baited areas with punch bait and cut bait. The largemouth bass fishing is fair around structure on jigs, spinners, and crankbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs in standing timber and brush piles.
SULPHUR SPRINGS: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 71 degrees; 3.07’ low. Largemouth bass are good on Texas-rigged plastic worms and medium-sized crankbaits near brush piles, drop-offs, and fallen timber. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in 13-28’ near brush piles and standing timber. Catfish are good on cut shad and prepared bait in 6-18’.
TAWAKONI: EXCELLENT. Water lightly stained; 71-74 degrees; 1.52’ low. Catfish are excellent on live bait and cut bait. Largemouth bass are good on medium-sized crankbaits, Texas-rigged plastic worms, bladed jigs, and light-colored swimbaits. White bass and hybrid stripers are excellent on live bait and slabs, with some fish schooling on the surface. Use sonar to locate fish in deeper water near ridges, flats, and humps in the main lake. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs around brush piles, docks, and bridge pilings.
TEXOMA: EXCELLENT. Water lightly stained; 71 degrees; 3.40’ low. Striped bass and white bass are excellent on live shad, swimbaits, and slabs. Diving birds are marking feeding schools feeding on the surface throughout the lake. Largemouth bass are good fishing Texas-rigged plastic worms, jigs, and diving crankbaits in 16-28’ with some fish moving into shallow water in the 3-10’ range chasing shad. Crappie are fair on minnows near boathouses, timber, creek ledges, and brush piles in 15-25’. Catfish are good on cut bait and punch bait.
TYLER: GOOD. Water clear; 71 degrees; 0.31’ low. Black bass are good on Texas-rigged plastic worms, jigs, and small shad like crankbaits fishing docks, timber, and creek mouths. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in brush piles, structure, and timber in 18-25’. Catfish are good on punch bait and cut bait. White bass are good in 18-30’ on jigging spoons, swimbaits, and slabs.
WEATHERFORD: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 1.49’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on chatter baits, jigs, crankbaits, and craws near rocky shorelines and points, fallen timber, and brush. White bass are good in 20-35’ with white slabs and jigging spoons. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs around docks, marinas, and submerged cover. Catfish are good on punch bait.
WORTH: GOOD. Water clear; 72 degrees; 1.41’ low. Largemouth bass are good with jigs, crankbaits, jerk baits, and spinnerbaits working creek mouths, creek channels, and boat docks. Crappie are good on minnows and lightweight jigs fishing brush piles, and timber lining the creek channel and under docks. Catfish are good on punch bait and shrimp.
WRIGHT PATMAN: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 72 degrees; 3.34’ high. Largemouth bass are good on Texas-rigged worms and spinners along creek channels, timber, and points. White bass are good on jigging spoons and slabs. Crappie are good on minnows near structure and brush piles. Catfish are good on punch bait and earthworms.
SOUTH
AMISTAD: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 77 degrees; 44.25’ low. We’ve had increased activity this week, working shallow and deep but moving away from brush piles for the most part. Black bass are good at seeking pockets in the rocks, and vegetation with Texas-rigged worms, topwaters, and square billed crankbait. White bass are fair on points with some mid cove feedings on small crankbait. Catfish are fair on shrimp, chicken livers, and stinkbait dough balls still kore in the river than main lake. Remember to stay on the Texas side of the lake unless you possess a Mexican fishing license.
CALAVERAS: FAIR. Water stained; 74-77 degrees. Red drum are slow with live bait. Black bass are good working topwaters, jigs, spinners, large worms, and crankbait. Work deep structures midday and above 8’ early and late. Hybrid striped bass are good feeding in schools in coves and off some points. Catfish are good on stinkbait, chicken livers, and cut shad.
CHOKE CANYON: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 75-77 degrees; 21.34’ low. Largemouth bass are good with topwater, Texas-rigged worms, crankbait working vegetation, rocks, creeks, and island points. White bass are fair with some feeding activity between mid-lake and points. Crappie are good still fishing the Elm and cover on shiners. Catfish are fair with live bait and cheese bait.
CORPUS CHRISTI LAKE: GOOD. Water stained; 76 degrees; 6.29’ low. Largemouth bass are good with a trend towards feeding shallower and more active in afternoons. Stay close all the structures below 15’ in weed beds, humps, and creeks. Carolina-rigged worms, buzzbaits, jerk bait, and topwater all catch fish. Crappie are good on jigs in creeks and under docks. Catfish are good on cut bait and cheese bait.
FALCON: FAIR. Water lightly stained north and clear south; 78 degrees; 37.49’ low. We’ve regularly been in the 90s, so not overly fall feeling, but lots of lunkers and big fish have been on lines recently. Black bass are fair on Texas-rigged worms and square-billed crankbait. Cranks on rocks and worms out the points and off ledges. And I have heard a few rumors of some very shallow fish on topwater’s before 8:30 a.m. The white bass are great schooling south lake just looks for the birds. Crappie are excellent on brush piles, and people are catching bunches and lots of limits. Catfish are excellent on rod and reel up the river (experienced river navigators only) in the deep holes like in front of Hedieona and White House. Remember to stay on the Texas side unless you possess a Mexican fishing license.
MEDINA: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees; 27.55’ low. Black bass are good working deep and shallow spots with newfound structures. Humps have emerged as the best spots, brush can still hold some fish, and those calm coves out of the elements. White bass are good with Alabama rigs moving further out from points. Striped bass are good and running west mid-lake straights. Crappie are fair in creeks on jigs. Catfish are fair on live bait, chicken livers, and blood baits.
TEXANA: GOOD. Water stained; 76 degrees; 0.54’ low. Largemouth bass are fair along the Texas 111 bridge with submerged and surface vegetation with spinners, worms, jigs, and possibly topwater. Crappie are great and plentiful over structures. Catfish are good on stinkbait, cut bait, and live bait.
SOUTHEAST
BRAUNIG: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 72 degrees. Red drum remain slow with live bait. Largemouth bass are good fishing spinners, worms, and crankbait along rip rap. Vegetation is providing ample habitat as well. Stripers are fair trolling mid-lake. Catfish are good on live bait, cut bait, and cheese bait.
B.A. STEINHAGEN: FAIR. Water stained; 71 degrees; 0.42’ low. Black bass are good, and vegetation is key this time a year. Work worms, crankbaits and spinners, and other baits who can cut thru the weeds. Crappie are good on jigs under vegetation and along large structures. Sunfish are fair with jigs and crickets under docks. Catfish are good day and night on cut and prepped bait.
CONROE: GOOD. Water stained; 70 degrees; 1.75’ low. Black bass are great working fresh and vegetative water with worms, spinners, and topwater. Afternoons have turned to the best time of day to fish when winds are light. Crappie are fair on jigs working creeks and above structures. Hybrid striped bass are fair finding the feeding. Catfish are good on cut bait, live bait, and dough balls. Sunfish are fair with live worms, crickets, and power bait pellets.
GIBBONS CREEK: GOOD. Water stained; 71 degrees. Largemouth bass are good on worms, topwater, crankbait, and jigs. Vegetation, creeks, and standing timber are your locations. Crappie are fair on minnows over brush. Catfish are fair on live bait throughout the lake along with some dough pellets. Sunfish are fair on cutworms near the bank and in structures.
HOUSTON COUNTY: FAIR. Water stained; 70 degrees; 0.11’ low. Black bass are good at moving on vegetation with some deeper activity later in the days. Texas-rigged worms and crankbait in a variety of colors is all you will need this time of year. Crappie are good on docks and piers. Bream and bluegill are good at using live worms. Catfish are good on shad, prepped dough balls with trot making a comeback with live bait.
LIVINGSTON: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 0.32’ low. Black bass are good, and beware of pattern inconsistencies. Creeks and coves and the best habitat with worms, spinners, and crankbait. Striped bass remain good mid-lake on shad. Crappie are good on jigs looking in calmer water over and understructure. White bass are good on spinners, and Alabama rigs moving mid-lake from points. Catfish are fair on live baits and stinkbait in the main river channel.
NACONICHE: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 71 degrees. Largemouth bass are good with topwaters, crankbaits, spinners, and swimming jigs. There has been a resurgence of mid-depth fishing to 10’ and shallower with more stable temps recently. Fish vegetation and stumps. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows with water surface cover. Sunfish are fair on pellets improving at night under lights. Catfish are good on dough balls, cut and live bait.
RAVEN: FAIR. Water stained; 72 degrees; Largemouth bass are fair on worms working 12’ or less and crankbait along or over structure. Sunfish are fair on cutworms and crickets fishing cover.
SAM RAYBURN: GOOD. Water stained; 73 degrees; 3.79’ low. Largemouth bass continue to be good in shallow water with structure like vegetation, creeks, and timber. Fish topwater, spinners, and crankbait. White bass are fair, still looking deep and moving a bit further out towards mid-lake. Crappie are good on jigs staying in close proximity to their structure. Catfish are good on live and stinkbait.
TOLEDO BEND: GOOD. Water stained; 69-73 degrees; 3.89’ low. Black bass are good as we are starting to catch shallow and deep on crankbait, large worms, and topwater. The shallow bite is at 2-8’. The deep bite is 24-32’. White bass are fair and feeding midday or on brush piles. Crappie are excellent. Most are suspended in the man-made brush piles about 12-13’ down man-made brush piles in 25-28’. Use live shiners, but there are conditions when they want a crappie jig (that is, behind a cold front). Bream are good with small jigs and crickets. Channel and blue catfish are fair on stinkbait.
PANHANDLE
CISCO: FAIR. Water clear; 64 degrees; 5.05’ low. Largemouth bass are fair staying north and not getting too far from vegetation and their close structures with topwater poppers and weedless jigs. Sunfish are good with cover fishing nightcrawlers and cutworms using shallower docks. Crappie are fair with jigs using docks and brush just out of vegetation. Catfish are good catching every day and night on stinkbait, nightcrawlers, chicken livers, and cut shad.
MEREDITH: FAIR. Water stained; 61 degrees; 50.77’ low. Black bass are fair, just tough to reach with such low water finding the remaining structures. Walleye are slow. Crappie are fair with jigs over brush. White bass are good in the deepest spots. Channel catfish are fair fishing stink bait searching pretty deep.
MILLERS CREEK: GOOD. Water stained; 60 degrees; 0.29’ high. Largemouth bass are good in all forms of vegetation creeks and points coming out from the creeks. Crappie are good on jigs in timber and under vegetation. White bass are fair, moving to mid-lake searching for food. Catfish are fair mid-depth in coves with live, blood, and liver prepared baits.
WEST
ALAN HENRY: GOOD. Water clear; 65 degrees; 3.36’ low. Black bass are good with many large fish to be caught this time of year in 20-30’. Work mid-depth structures to shallow are worked for success with vegetation and stumps with topwater, plastic worms, and crankbait. Crappie are good with jigs under docks. Catfish are fair on live bait, cut bait, and stinkbait.
ARROWHEAD: FAIR. Water stained; 64 degrees; 0.26’ low. Largemouth bass are good working creeks on jigs and spinners with some deeper activity kicking off with bass seeking warm water. White bass are fair deep or feeding mid-lake. Crappie are fair on jigs on big structures. Catfish are good on cheese bait, stinkbait, and minnows.
COLEMAN: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 67 degrees; 2.53’ low. Hybrid stripers are good on rattletraps seeing schools feeding on the surface. Largemouth bass are good on rocks, vegetation, and drops. The best bait is topwater, followed by worms, spinners, crankbaits, and jerkbaits. Crappie are fair on jigs in Northlake structures. Catfish are fair with stinkbait and cut bait.
FORT PHANTOM HILL: GOOD. Water stained; 69 degrees; 1.47’ low. White bass are fair on Alabama rigs, with some surface feeding occurring. Black bass are fair. Deeper water has been better with crankbaits and worms. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are fair on cut shad and stinkbait throughout the lake.
HUBBARD CREEK: FAIR. Water stained; 67 degrees; 1.74’ low. Largemouth bass are good working timber, vegetation, and creeks on lighter colored soft plastics with speed. Crappie are good on jigs fishing creeks. White bass are fair over brush and in creeks on small crankbaits. Sunfish are always fair on worms. Catfish are fair on live and cut shad.
NASWORTHY: GOOD. Water stained; 69 degrees. 1.00’ low. Black bass are good with topwater, spinners, jigs, and worms in vegetation moving spots frequently. Crappie are good with jigs and minnows around bridges and docks no deeper than 12’. White bass are fair on Alabama Rigs working points and drops. Catfish are fair on live and prepped baits throughout the lake.
OAK CREEK: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 66 degrees; 3.46’ low. Largemouth bass are good in fallen timber and flooded vegetation, preferably out of the wind on worms, topwater, and some spinners. Crappie are good under large structures on jigs. White bass are fair on small spinners and crankbait mid-lake. Catfish are fair on trotlines, nightcrawlers, live bait, and cut bait.
O.C. FISHER: FAIR. Water stained; 68 degrees; 41.23’ low. Largemouth bass are fair with decreased activity due to windy, cold weather. Low water struggles continue in vegetation, drops, and rip raps, but you will find hot spots. Use Texas-rigged worms, spinners, topwater, and jigs. Crappie are fair on jigs with increased success on minnows. White bass are small crankbaits mid-lake. Catfish are fair on stinkbait, live, and cut bait.
O.H. IVIE: GOOD. Water clear; 68 degrees; 12.96’ low. Black bass are good in flooded vegetation, along rocks, and humps in less than 20 feet on minnows, jigs, worms, and topwaters. Crappie are good on jigs searching vegetation and creeks. Catfish are good on stinkbait, live, and cut bait. White bass are fair on points.
POSSUM KINGDOM: FAIR. Water clear; 66 degrees; 0.32’ low. Black bass are fair to slow with rocks and submerged vegetation. Soft plastic worms present the best opportunity, and crankbait will cover a lot of water. White bass are good on spoons suspending deep over structure coming shallower midday. Crappie are good with jigs, not wondering far from docks and larger hiding structures. Striped bass remain slow with some increased activity mid-lake. Catfish are good on cut shad, dough balls, and stinkbait, increasing at night over quarks.
SPENCE: FAIR. Water stained; 68 degrees; 39.34’ low. Black bass are good deep for eight-plus pound fishing and shallow to catch them in numbers. Feeding patterns are hard to follow on jigs, worms, topwater, and spinners. White bass are fair as some more aggressive fishing patterns emerge on drops. Crappie are slow suspending above structure. Hybrid bass are slow. Catfish are fair on live and cut bait coming out from flats to deeper water.
STAMFORD: FAIR. Water stained; 70 degrees; 0.69’ high. Black bass are fair, working all angles of brush and fish attractors and creeks along with some previous unreachable vegetation spots. Crappie are fair on jigs on or around submerged rocks. White bass are fair with Alabama rigs. Move to shallow, murky water on points. Catfish are fair on live bait and stinkbait.
TWIN BUTTES: FAIR. Water stained; 68 degrees; 11.56’ low. Black bass are good on riprap, humps, and vegetation. Live bait is successful and draws the most attention, along with soft plastic worms and jigs. Crappie are good on jigs staying near drops and creeks. White bass are fair with Alabama rigs on deep rocks and points. Catfish are fair on live and prepped baits.
WHITE RIVER: FAIR. Water stained; 63 degrees; 24.55’ low. Drought conditions continue to be in place. Largemouth bass are fair to slow, with weather and low water affecting success. Carolina rigged worms bottom bumping, jigs through brush, and spinners over deep structure. Crappie are fair on jigs over structure. Walleye continue to be slow. Channel catfish are good on live bait, cut bait, and stinkbait.
COASTAL
SABINE LAKE: GOOD. Water stained; 74-75 degrees. Fishing the mouths of the bayous along the eastern shoreline will yield some speckled trout, redfish, and flounder on artificial lures. Also, fishing under the birds is a promising method during October. The jetties will have a few speckled trout, but the redfish will be in more significant numbers.
TRINITY BAY: GOOD. 74-75 degrees. Speckled trout and redfish are good around the bayou on shrimp or soft plastics. Flounder are good around rocks on a minnow. The north and northwest shoreline is a great area year-round due to the generating station. The cooling canal flows into the north side.
EAST GALVESTON BAY: GOOD. 77 degrees. Deep Reef, Hanna’s Reef, and Pepper Grove are great spots for speckled trout on small topwaters. The Bull Red Run has been the best spot for bull reds. Small speckled trout will be found under the birds. Sheepshead are fair along the rocks and piers on shrimp. The flounder run has been slow to kick up due to unfavorable fishing conditions with the cold front dropping the temperatures. Gulps are best to use.
TEXAS CITY: GOOD. 76 degrees. Unchanged. Bull reds are strong around the dike, and fresh-cut mullet is the best bait. Redfish and speckled trout are excellent along the shoreline on shrimp under a popping cork or soft plastics. Flounder are good on minnow around the rocks. Black drum are good on blue crab around deep structure or vegetation. Sheepshead are fair around the rocks on mullet.
WEST GALVESTON BAY: GOOD. 76-77 degrees. Speckled trout are great on small topwaters or soft plastics around the reefs. The shell reefs around the Intracoastal Waterway and San Luis Pass are great for speckled trout and redfish on shrimp under a cork. Flounder are fair due to the slow uptick, unlike what we normally experience this time of year. Look for it to pick up within the next week.
FREEPORT: GOOD. 77 degrees. Redfish and speckled trout are plentiful along the beachfront, jetties, in the back lakes and bays on live shrimp under popping cork or mullet. Black drum and sheepshead are good on live shrimp around the reefs. Flounder are fair along the drains on mullet.
EAST MATAGORDA BAY: GOOD. 78 degrees. Speckled trout and redfish are good around the shell reefs on shrimp. Black drum are fair using Bass Assassins around vegetation or deep structure. This side of Matagorda is a hotspot from now until the end of the year.
WEST MATAGORDA BAY: GOOD. 78 degrees. Speckled trout and redfish are good on soft plastics around the grass and sand bottoms early in the morning. Switch to soft plastics as the sun comes up. The north shoreline is good for redfish on live shrimp.
PORT O’CONNOR: GOOD. 78-79 degrees. The jetties are busy with speckled trout on super spook junior, soft plastics, or minnow. Big speckled trout will be near dropoffs and potholes in the late morning. Black drum are good on crab around deep structure. Flounder is fair on minnow around the jetties.
PORT ARANSAS: GOOD. 81-82 degrees. Aransas Bay is an excellent spot for speckled trout and redfish on soft plastics. The bull redfish bite is getting better around the jetties. Black drum are good on crab or topwaters. Flounder are good on soft plastics or mullet around the jetties.
ROCKPORT: GOOD. 78-79 degrees. Things are finally cooling down, and fall fishing is officially here. The best time for fishing is midday hours. Redfish are great on shrimp, KWiggler, and topwater around the flats. Speckled trout are good around vegetation on shrimp under a popping cork.
CORPUS CHRISTI: GOOD. 81 degrees. First cold front of the season is here. The north side of Nueces Bay has been excellent for speckled trout, redfish, and black drum. The back lakes have lots of redfish and are best on popping corks or topwaters. Flounder are good and heating up around the docks and channel edges and are good on soft plastics. Black drum is good on crab or shrimp late in the afternoon.
BAFFIN BAY: GOOD. Unchanged. 74-75 degrees. Speckled trout and redfish are good on shrimp under a popping cork. Redfish are good on mullet or shrimp around the Kleberg Point Rocks. Black drum are good on topwaters or blue crab around vegetation.
PORT MANSFIELD: GOOD. 79-80 degrees. Speckled trout are good in the grass and potholes using KWiggler, topwater, and shrimp under a popping cork. Redfish are good on the sand using topwater, KWiggler paddle tail. Flounder are good in the drains and east cut using kwiggler paddle tails and gulp.
SOUTH PADRE: GOOD. 79-80 degrees. Redfish and speckled trout are good using topwaters in the morning and soft plastics in the afternoon along the shoreline. Black drum are in mid-depth waters and are caught on crab or shrimp.
PORT ISABEL: GOOD. 83 degrees. Speckled trout are along the shoreline or in the shallow grass flats and are best on shrimp. Redfish are also good on shrimp and will be around the shallow sand flats. The flounder will be in the back marsh feeding around the drains. Black drum are good on crab or shrimp and are good around deep structure or vegetation.
BOLIVAR PENINSULA: GOOD. 78 degrees. Unchanged. Speckled trout and redfish are in the cut and the surf on shrimp. Black drum are good on crab. Lots of male flounder are moving through the pass and are good on minnows. Sheepshead are slow.
