ATTLEBORO, Mass. (AP) - One woman was killed and another was injured in a double stabbing in Attleboro, authorities said.
Kimberly Duphily, 28, of Attleboro was found “bleeding profusely” in a city home at about 4 p.m. Friday, the Bristol district attorney’s office said in a statement.
She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A 20-year-old woman was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and was released, the district attorney said in an updated statement Saturday. Her name wasn’t released.
Attleboro Chief Kyle Heagney told The Sun Chronicle on Friday that police had a “person of interest” in custody. But Gregg Miliote, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office, said Saturday no one is in custody.
Heagney said there is no public safety threat.
Police had responded to the scene after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting “a commotion,” authorities said.
The death was the first homicide in Attleboro since December 2017, The Sun Chronicle reported.
