WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A human skull found in a wooded area behind a Delaware shopping center belonged to a woman who had been reported missing eight years ago, police said.

The Delaware News Journal reported Friday that officials identified the remains as those of 34-year-old Nancy Nicole Shipley, who was reported missing to Delaware State Police in April 2013.

Part of her skull was found in July 2019 during excavation work near the Christina Crossing shopping center in Wilmington.

The skull was sent to the University of North Texas for DNA analysis. Investigators linked the remains to Shipley in March.

The cause of Shipley’s death hasn’t been determined.
