TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - An inmate at the state prison in Tucson has died from an apparent suicide, according to authorities.
Arizona Department of Corrections officials said 48-year-old Brandy Brents died Wednesday from an apparent act of self-harm by hanging.
Prison staff reported discovering Brents unresponsive in his cell.
Efforts to revive him failed and Brents was pronounced dead.
Corrections officials said Brents was sentenced out of Navajo County in 2015 for multiple aggravated assault charges.
They said all inmate deaths are investigated in consultation with the county medical examiner’s office.
