BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police have arrested a suspect in the death of a Guilford man last year.

Kaleb Sherman, 39, of Brattleboro, is expected to be arraigned on Thursday on suspicion of second-degree murder and aggravated assault in the death of Robert “Zach” Phelps, Vermont State Police said.

Investigators determined that Phelps, 43, died as a result of an altercation with Sherman at a home in Guilford in July, police said. Phelps died Aug. 15 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center from the injuries, police said.

Sherman was arrested on Wednesday and was being held without bail. It was not immediately known if he is being represented by an attorney.
