LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say a man has died after he was punched while walking along the Strip.

Authorities say the deadly incident happened Sunday just before 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road.

Officers looking at real-time crime cameras happened to see the encounter.

They say the suspect fled on foot but was quickly found. He has been identified as 33-year-old Brandon Leath.

Paramedics, meanwhile, took the victim to the hospital but he was pronounced dead.

According to investigators, the victim and a woman were crossing a pedestrian bridge when Leath began yelling at them. Leath followed them, running down to meet them at the bottom of the escalator.

Police say the victim approached Leath upon stepping off the escalator. A verbal altercation ensued.

That’s when Leath allegedly punched the victim, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.
