JENNINGS, Mo. (AP) - A 20-year-old man was charged with murder Thursday after a woman died and another was injured in a shooting in suburban St. Louis, police said
Dairius Kinnie was charged with murder, two counts of first-degree assault and four other counts after the shootings in Jennings Wednesday night.
Kinnie was arrested after an officer fired at him when he pointed a gun at the officer after a chase, KSDK-TV reported.
Charging documents say Kinnie went to a home Wednesday afternoon and shot one woman several times before shooting the other woman twice.
One of the women - who was in her late teens or early 20s - died at the scene. The other was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
After the shooting a Bellefontaine Neighbors officer spotted Kinnie’s truck and began a pursuit, which ended when Kinnie hit a tree, police said.
Police said Kinnie got out of the truck and pointed a gun at the officer, who fired but did not hit Kinnie.
Kinnie was being held without bond.
