MANDAN, N.D. (AP) - A Bismarck attorney is asking to withdraw as counsel for a man accused of killing four people in Mandan two years ago, citing a disciplinary complaint against him filed by the defendant.
It’s unclear how the withdrawal, if granted, would affect the timing of Chad Isaak’s trial scheduled to start June 7.
In his request, attorney Robert Quick says the complaint presents a conflict of interest and that he is obligated to end his representation of Isaak.
The 46-year-old chiropractor is accused of killing RJR Maintenance and Management co-owner Robert Fakler, 52; and employees Adam Fuehrer, 42; and William Cobb, 50, and Lois Cobb, 45, who were married. Police have not established a motive for the slaying at the Mandan business on April 1, 2019.
Isaak lived in a mobile home park managed by RJR.
The motion includes all attorneys from Vogel Law Firm, who were acting as secondary counsel. South Central District Judge David Reich is expected to consider the motion Wednesday, the Bismarck Tribune reported.
There were no formal complaints against Quick made to the state Disciplinary Board as of midday Monday, a North Dakota Supreme Court clerk said.
