OPINION:
The media thrive upon sexual misconduct allegations made against politicians, judges and even those from among their own ranks.
They crave scandal after scandal like spectators at the ancient Roman Forum, publicizing and targeting some public figures more than others.
It is unfortunate that for many legislators and justices, their power is their addiction. The votes they receive to stay in office are the only thing most of them care about. Their representation is sparse and often fictional, their solutions for societal problems practically nonexistent.
It does not take long to discover one of the reasons why there is dysfunction in and breakdown of families today.
Perhaps the worst part is the anemic response and failure by the general public — especially the church — to take these so-called leaders to task.
In “God & Government,” Charles Colson writes: “A nation that does not demand high standards of character of its leaders will end up being a nation of barbarians. … The American experiment is a moral, not just a political exercise.”
This was the apparent mindset of our Founding Fathers.
Perhaps this is the natural evolution of a country after the Bible is thrown out of schools but finds its way into prisons.
