OPINION:
Progressive groups are sexualizing our children and they’re using everything from required health classes to Valentine’s Day to accomplish their goals. Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest provider of sex education, reaches more than 1.5 million people each year, and they are taking advantage of every resource available – including Valentine’s Day.

While Valentine’s Day was once an innocent celebration, organizations such as Planned Parenthood are using the holiday to promote their progressive agenda. Their approach to sexuality education is focused on teaching children about exploring their sexuality and experimentation rather than promoting healthy behaviors.

Planned Parenthood has recently taken over Valentine’s Day by observing National Condom Week during the same week this holiday is celebrated. According to the organization, this is a great time to learn more about the importance of using condoms and other barrier methods, and to help educate the uninformed – because everyone deserves to have a worry-free and healthy sex life. Planned Parenthood very effectively uses Valentine’s Day as an open door to push its agenda of sexualizing our kids, even in the early elementary grades.
In the past, schoolchildren looked forward to Valentine’s Day with great anticipation. It was a fun and lighthearted holiday, a chance to share sweet treats and cards with your friends. Today, however, we are very far removed from conversation hearts and lollipops as well-funded, progressive organizations are giving out something much more sinister. Many of the resources approved in our public schools push provocative, sexualized ways to celebrate February 14th.
While some schools will be handing out free condoms, (some states have mandated free condoms for middle and high schools) others will be promoting websites for our youth to create their own inappropriate Valentine e-cards. One resource, called Scarleteen, a website commonly used in High Schools and Middle Schools, encourages teens to send messages laced with sexual wording and graphics.
Here is an example of what Scarleteen is recommending for Valentine’s Day, and it’s taken directly from their website:
There’s a big range of interactions and relationships that can all be healthy, happy and involve love — or like, lust, or even I-don’t-know-yet-what-this-is-yet-but-it-sure-is-fun-so-far — not just one kind of relationship. Hookups or friends with benefits, open or poly relationships, friendships, sexual monogamy, love relationships without sex, exes turned friends, and even the love relationship one has with oneself can all potentially be sweet, caring, beneficial and meaningful for the people within them.
At Scarleteen, we give information and support to young people accepting this range: in fact, we think the diversity of relationships and interactions is wonderful. We aim to help our users create healthy relationships they feel great about whatever their shape or form.
Pick a card, any card (or more than one!) — to share with those in your life you love or like a whole lot and want to show a little appreciation for on Valentine’s Day, or any day.
For open relationships or singles
For a one-time hookup you want to do more than once
For a very special sex toy (that even can get email, that’s just how special)
For a booty call of choice
The purity of sharing a friendly Valentine greeting with your friends at school is long gone, and sadly, this is what has replaced it. It is really nothing more than pornography that is wrapped up in a big red bow and labeled “Valentine’s Day.” But there are no condoms for the hearts, minds, and souls of our kids. Once they are exposed to this offensive imaging, those visual encounters cannot be erased. It is time for parents to reengage in the classroom and reclaim their parental rights.
