OPINION:
In Britain, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has thought of a clever way to combat the immigrant crime wave. Her office has produced a nine-page pamphlet telling newcomers that rape, genital mutilation and sex with minors are frowned upon in the country.
You would think migrants could figure that out for themselves, but many come from cultures where such atrocities are the norm. Britain has an illegal immigration problem. Like other left-wing parties, Britain’s Labor government seeks not to solve the problem but rather to hide the consequences.
In early August, two Afghan migrants raped a woman at knifepoint. Another woman was stabbed to death with a screwdriver by a Sudanese asylum seeker, and a 12-year-old girl was abducted and raped by another Afghan.
Perhaps they did not get the brochure telling them that sexual violence is a no-no. Because many do not read English, they may not have known what was expected of them in Britain.
Many of the invaders come from countries where sex between men and adolescent girls, clitorectomies and the rape of infidel women are the norm.
The British government should seek to protect its citizens from the sexual violence of newcomers, instead of giving the immigrants a crash course in cultural assimilation.
But then, the Labor government has different priorities. Recently, a retired police officer was convicted of reposting jokes about Islam on the internet. Unlike rape and pedophilia, some things will not be tolerated.
President Trump has chosen a different path. Since the beginning of his second term, the Department of Homeland Security has deported around 605,000 illegal immigrants, mostly those who have committed serious crimes in the United States.
That does not include the illegals who have self-deported.
The White House has a goal of 1 million deportations a year. This is necessitated by President Biden’s open borders policy, which allowed as many as 20 million illegals — among them career criminals, gang members and drug dealers — to stream across our unguarded borders.
The British need their own Donald Trump, a leader who is willing to stand up to the leftist mob to protect his people. They may have found him in Member of Parliament Nigel Farage, whose Reform UK party made impressive gains in local elections earlier this year.
Mr. Farage understands that there are better ways to respond to sexual violence than with pamphlets.
