OPINION:
Our legislators carry immense responsibility in representing the will of the American people.
As politically divided as our nation is, this has become more of a challenge, possibly more than at any other time in our history.
But when an issue comes along that is overwhelmingly supported, as is the case with the SAVE America Act, you would think action would be taken quickly to address the will of the people.
As noted in The Washington Times, the SAVE America Act would require proof of citizenship to register to vote and a photo ID to cast a ballot. According to a Harvard Harris poll from February, 85% of Americans say that only U.S. citizens should have the right to vote, and 71% support the SAVE America Act.
Why is the Senate not listening? This hardly seems to be a controversial issue (proof of U.S. citizen ship and a photo ID), so what is the problem?
As Sen. Tommy Tuberville, Alabama Republican, said in a recent interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum, people across America want fair elections.
With the recent election wins of communist candidates in New York and the shenanigans that occurred in the Los Angeles mayoral elections, it is now even more important that only U.S. citizens’ voices are heard in our elections.
To legislators holding up the SAVE America Act, do your job! You were elected not to be partisan politicians. Support our president and carry out the wishes of the American people.
