Fans will not be allowed to bring bags to Game 3 of the NBA Finals Monday as part of security measures for President Trump.

Law enforcement sources told CBS News that local and federal officials decided on the bag ban at Madison Square Garden, home of the New York Knicks, who are leading the series two to nothing, as part of a “heightened security posture.”

In addition, the law enforcement sources told CBS News that only ticketed attendees will be allowed to enter; that those attendees will have to go through a Secret Service security screening similar to security checkpoints at airports; and that they recommend fans also leave purses, backpacks and totes at home.

Mr. Trump, himself a Knicks fan, was invited to Game 3 by the team’s owner, James Dolan. Mr. Trump also said he might also attend Game 4 at Madison Square Garden, which could be the championship-clinching game if the Knicks win Game 3 against the San Antonio Spurs.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will also be at Game 3, though he purchased his ticket and said he will be sitting in a different area than the president and Mr. Dolan.

Game 3 will be the first NBA Finals game to be held at Madison Square Garden since Game 4 of the NBA Finals in 1999, which the Knicks lost to the Spurs four games to one. If New York wins the series, it will be the team’s first title since the 1972-1973 season, when the team beat the Los Angeles Lakers in five games to win its second title.
