Michelle Pfeiffer is spilling the tea about going without bathrooms and air conditioning while filming the Paramount+ neo-Western series “The Madison” in sun-baked Montana, news outlets report.
The Golden Globe Award-winning actress described the tough filming conditions during an appearance on the LA Times podcast “In Conversation: The Madison.” She said filming occurred in open terrain without amenities, such as plumbing. The cast’s trailers weren’t nearby because crews filmed 360-degree views of the landscape, she said.
Still, Ms. Pfeiffer, 68, described the surrounding area as “breathtakingly gorgeous.”
She plays Stacy Clyburn, the matriarch of a modern-day wealthy New York City family who relocates to the rural Madison River Valley in Montana after a tragedy. The series, which has completed filming its second season, was created by Taylor Sheridan.
Ms. Pfeiffer described committing to the project as a “big leap of faith,” as Mr. Sheridan had no script and based everything on the actors bringing the characters to life. The cast includes Kurt Russell, Beau Garrett and Patrick J. Adams.
Ms. Pfeiffer credits Helen Mirren, who starred in Mr. Sheridan’s series “1923,” for mitigating her concerns after the Oscar winner endorsed Mr. Sheridan.
“The Madison” premiered on Paramount+ on March 14 and is directed by Christina Alexandra Voros.
